American Royal Welcomes Phillips & McClaskey
American Royal Association Names Glen Alan Phillips as new CEO and selects Jackie McClaskey to lead Kansas relocation
KANSAS CITY, MO – The American Royal Board of Directors are pleased to announce Glen Alan Phillips as the organization’s new president and CEO, effective April 15, 2019. Additionally, the organization has tapped Jackie McClaskey to lead its Kansas relocation project. McClaskey joined the American Royal team on January 21, 2019.
Phillips joins the organization from the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. During his 18-year career with San Antonio, he served as the senior director of agriculture programs & events, the assistant executive director, and ultimately the chief strategy officer of the rodeo & all competitive events.
“With a proven track record of success in the livestock and entertainment industries, Glen Alan is a progressive and natural leader,” said Charlie Tetrick, Chairman of the American Royal. “We are so excited to see the positive impacts that he will inevitably bring to the American Royal and all those involved with it.”
Phillips is a graduate of both Texas A&M University and Angelo State University where he received a B.S. in Animal Sciences and a M.S. in Animal Sciences respectively. He has also completed an Executive Development Program at The Wharton School-University of Pennsylvania.
Jackie McClaskey will lead the fundraising and development efforts of the organization as it prepares to build its new home in Wyandotte County, Kansas. McClaskey joins the organization from the Kansas Department of Agriculture where over the past 8 years she served as assistant secretary, deputy secretary, and secretary. In her previous experience, Jackie enjoyed a 13-year career at Kansas State University as the assistant dean for the College of Agriculture.
“Over the past few years Jackie has been an integral part of our Kansas relocation project,” said Tetrick. “She is a strong resource in the agriculture industry and we are very fortunate to have her on board.”
McClaskey is a graduate of Kansas State University where she received a B.S. in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Animal Sciences with a focus in Ag Economics and Policy. She is also a graduate of Texas A&M where she received a M.S. in Agricultural Economics.
